NACC Goal

The number of Nepalese Americans in North Carolina has been growing rapidly. This growth is largely driven by the increasing ability of people to work remotely since the COVID-19 pandemic and by North Carolina's favorable weather compared to many other states in the U.S.

As the Nepalese American population expands, many elderly “parents” and “in-laws” from Nepal—who typically do not speak English or drive—face challenges in finding opportunities to meet and converse in Nepali.

We envision the NACC subdivision and its community as a “home away from home” for Nepalese Americans and their visiting parents and in-laws, fostering a sense of belonging and connection in North Carolina.

In the NACC subdivision, the above challenges will be minimized, allowing elderly family members to fully enjoy their time in the U.S. This reunification will bring families closer and ensure a welcoming environment for visiting parents and in-laws, contributing to their happiness.

The NACC project will also create an opportunity for several families currently residing in different states to relocate to North Carolina and live in the same neighborhood.

To support this vision, we plan to build a community of 106 homes, along with a 6,000 square foot cultural center or party hall and a 6,000 square foot worship center (Nepali-Hindu Temple). These facilities will enable members to practice their religion as they would in Nepal and celebrate key cultural events.

Additionally, the cultural and community center will serve as a venue for hosting personal and community events of cultural significance. It will also foster cultural exchange between Nepalese Americans and the local residents of Mebane, North Carolina.

The community will be enriched with amenities such as a swimming pool, picnic shelter, walking trails, open green spaces, and beautiful lakes for fishing, canoeing, and pontoon boating. These shared spaces will promote well-being, recreation, and togetherness among residents.
